This specimen, appropriately called “Christmas Carol,” is on the Wish List of every good gardener. Few know that historically hellebore was used to treat madness - hopefully this holiday season you won’t be driven to this as it is actually poisonous if ingested. This shade-loving plant bears beautiful flowers through late winter and into spring: white, often green-flushed, with pale yellow centres and upright stems.
SUN
Place plant in a cool room, in indirect sunlight.
WATER
Water only when the top 7cm of soil is dry to the touch. Avoid over-watering and ensure roots don’t sit in water.
TROUBLESHOOT
Remove faded/damaged leaves as the flowers appear.

AFTER FLOWERING
Once it has finished flowering indoors, it’s perfect for planting in your garden, where it will flower again next year!
